Buckling down for certain upcoming projects. I finished my Fossil Series, and I have to say they turned out much more colorful than I'm usually comfortable with. I joke that they're my first psychedelic pieces. I'm planning on putting them up as a separate series on the top floor of the Hopkins show this winter.

I also got another solo show for the summer- MacRostie Art Center in Grand Rapids. It'll be a great excuse for us to visit the beautiful north woods. Here's hoping I sell a bunch of work before then so I can afford to make and mount new pieces!

I've also decided that to continue working towards applying for the science illustration degree I've always wanted. Loans be damned, I've gotta do what I want and not be so scared of the move/money. It helps that I'm not planning on applying until the fall of 2010 for the 2010-2011 term. That should give me some time to settle.

With all that said, I'm still a bit restless. The factory job is taking a toll on my studio time- being that my schedule is Mon-Fri noon to 9. It's becoming difficult to get anything done on either end of that time frame. Doesn't help that they pay shit and expect me to work overtime constantly. It's a catch 22- get a well paying day job with long hours that stresses me out so I can't get art done, or get a shitty paying day job with worse hours that isn't stressful, but can't provide me with any leeway to get artwork done. I'm looking for the art fairy to fly down and provide me with a way out. Will I ever be satisfied with a day job? Perhaps not until I make a freelance illustration career my day-job.....

On a different note, I saw "Paranormal Activity". I don't scare easily but it got to me.
